Artist Biography and Artist Statement
I do not do paintings from nostalgia even though there is an
element in my work. I am an artist who is fascinated by how they are all the
same however different every one of the images I paint is. A series of paintings
that grew from casual drawings and taken from thousand photographs taken from
through out the urban jungle, taken from an artist note book written in the
mind. I have removed nearly all the narrative color in my images and created a
silhouette of monochromatic palette of light and form and of structure that
defines us and our history. So these are my paintings that are not specific
narratives, they are also about iconic objects of the past and recent or
present history. They include people places and things a part of nature that is
slipping away and becoming obsolete and extinct. Things that are discarded as
deformed and not part of what normal is define to be.

Institute of Chicago with a BFA in 1975. He has had numerous shows

Born in Terre Haute, Indiana and

“From landscapes to the human figure, I find beauty in
people, places and things that others would find inappropriate; to not reject
what others find different. This is what I try to achieve. Sometimes what makes
us feel uncomfortable defines who we are. To find who we are we sometimes must
explore our dark side. Look deep inside and accept at times what others might
reject”. Larry is an award winning artist and his book titled ‘Water Tanks
of Chicago” is a huge success about the vanishing urban structural legacy that
dots our urban skyline.
